Mike is currently Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal for the Albany Oregon Fire Department where he leads five Deputy Fire Marshals and provides program management for the Life Safety Division. The Life Safety Division provides a full range of fire code compliance, fire investigation and public education services to this community. Prior to joining the City of Albany, Mike served the Redmond WA. Fire Department for 13 years, with the last 8 serving as an Assistant Fire Marshal overseeing program management of fire maintenance inspections and investigations. Mike has been in the fire service since 1977, serving as a firefighter, EMT Cardiac Technician and Fire Investigator. His last 21 years have been spent in Fire Prevention, including 2 years in the private sector conduction Fire Protection Engineering work. Mike has served as the Eastside HazMat Team's Leader/Coordinator, and is familiar with hazardous material response and code related issues. he has been an instructor for Bellevue Community College's "Fire Plan Review" course and for the ODA's Fire Inspector Class (01, 04 -09) Mike has an A.S in Public Fire Administration, B.S. in Business Administration and is certified by the International Codes Council (ICC) as a Building Plans Examiner: Fire Plans Examiner and a Fire Inspector 2. he also is certified by IFASC as a Fire Investigator and Instructor 1, the Oregon State Fire Marshal as a Fire Inspector ll and maintains an Oregon Inspector Certification with the State Building Codes Division.
