I.David Daniels is a 27 year fire service veteran who has served in over twenty different capacities as a firefighter, company officer and chief officer. He is currently the Fire Chief and Emergency Services Administrator in the City of Renton. Chief Daniels holds a Master Degree in Human Resources Management, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Services Administration, completed the Harvard University Senior Executives in State and local Government program and is a Certified Safety and Health Specialist. Chief Daniels is a member of the Board of Directors fo the IAFC representing Safety, Health and Survival Section and President of the King County Fire Chiefs Association. Chief Daniels' major expertise is in the area of fire and emergency services occupational safety and health. He represents the IAFC on the NFPA Fire Service Occupational Safety and Health Committee and the National Firefighter Near Miss Reporting System Task Force. He also served with the Washington State Fire Chiefs Association in the re-write of the Washington State Safety Standard for firefighters which is part of state law. His home department of Renton Fire is the largest department in the State of Washington to be compliant with the International Firefighter Seatbelt Pledge. According to Chief Daniels, "the call to change culture is the single most important issue for fire and emergency services in this generation".
