Kyle Ohashi has been a member of the Kent Fire Department for 19 years dating back to 1990 and spent the first 10 years as a firefighter before being promoted in 2000. After spending four years as an officer on an engine company Ohashi was offered the position of Public Information Officer.
As a Captain and PIO the last five years Ohashi provides a 24/7 media service by rotating with two other PIO's for after hours and weekends and is also the Emergency PIO for the City of Kent. Ohashi also oversees the public education unit of the fire department which plan and schedule all public education events for the fire department.
Regionally Ohashi is one of three Zone 3 PIO leads tasked with responding to large incidents in South King County that require and request a PIO and is also a part of a Seattle based All Hazards Incident Management Team.
Prior to joining the fire service Ohashi managed restaurants and food service in the Seattle area and is a graduate of Kentridge High School and Western Washington University.
