Officer Development Academy

Overview:
The Officer
Development Academy (ODA) is offered annually through the KCFTOA. It is
designed to equip fire officers and fire officer candidates for positions
of leadership and management. ODA classes are developed to meet or exceed
the NFPA 1021 Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications 2009
edition. The KCFTOA strives to provide the best possible instruction by
using both nationally renowned and regional instructors known for providing
engaging and dynamic training.
History:
The KCFTOA
Officer Development Academy was first offered in 1996. From it's inception,
the purpose of the academy has been to develop firefighters within the
region to fulfill the roles of the Company Officer for today, as well
as for the future.
Certification:
| The
KCFTOA Officer Development Academy has been accredited by the Washington
State Fire Protection Policy Board for providing quality training
that meets or exceeds the requirements for NFPA 1021 Fire Officer
I & II and NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor I. |

IFSAC Certification:
Each year,
the KCFTOA hosts IFSAC certified testing for Fire Officer I & II. This
is considered part of the Officer Development Academy and is offered to all
ODA graduates.
Process:
Classes are
established in one-week blocks throughout the calendar year. You can choose
to attend the entire academy in one year or spread it out to fit your
situation. Upon completion of each course, the student will receive a
certificate of completion. When the entire academy is completed, an official
ODA certificate signed the King County Fire Training Officers' President
will be issued.
